
The European Association for Study Abroad E U A S A was established on May 6th, 2016, in Vienna, after preliminary meetings in Berlin, in Nov 2015, and in Geneva, in May 2015.
At the various meetings in Vienna, Berlin and Geneva, all together, nine of the ten major Associations of American University Programs (AAECG, AACUPI, AASAPeV, APUAF, ASAPI, AUCS, AAUP/CZ, AAEC, APUNE) attended and significantly contributed to the foundation of the Pan-European Association.
GOVERNANCE:
The organs of the Association are composed by:

CONSTITUTIVE ASSEMBLY – Minutes May 6, 2016
On May 6, 2016, in Vienna, at Museumplatz 1, at 10:00am, the following Associations have met:
- Association of American College and University Programs in Italy (AACUPI), represented by Pia Schneider;
- Austrian American Educational Commission (AAEC), still to be formally established, represented by Lonnie Johnson;
- Association of American Colleges in Greece (AAECG), represented by Gian Franco Borio;
- Association of American Study Abroad Programs in Germany, e. V. (AASAPeV), represented by Kurt Gamerschlag;
- Association of American University Programs in the Czech Republic (AAUP Czech Republic), represented by Jana Cemusova;
- Association of American University Programs in France (APUAF), represented by Laurent Ringer;
- Association of American Study Abroad Programs in Ireland (ASAPI), represented by Stephen Robinson;
- Association of American College and University Programs in Switzerland (AUCS), represented by Robert Spencer.
All above representatives state that they duly represent their home Association and are duly empowered to take decisions on behalf of their home Association, under the relevant regulations of each home Association.
The following Associations, through their respective representative as above identified, state their will to create the European Association of Study Abroad (“EUASA”), so that they will be Founding as well as Active Members of it:
- Association of American College and University Programs in Italy (AACUPI), represented by Pia Schneider;
- Association of American Colleges in Greece (AAECG), represented by Gian Franco Borio;
- Association of American Study Abroad Programs in Germany, e. V. (AASAPeV), represented by Kurt Gamerschlag;
- Association of American University Programs in France (APUAF), represented by Laurent Ringer;
- Association of American Study Abroad Programs in Ireland (ASAPI), represented by Stephen Robinson;
- Association of American College and University Programs in Switzerland (AUCS), represented by Robert Spencer.
All above for a total of six (6) Founding and Active Members of EUASA.
The other Associations that have not stated such intention or that are not formally ready to resolve on this, are anyway allowed to attend this Constitutive Assembly.
The above Founding and Active Members of EUASA then read, consider and discuss in details the draft of the Association Bylaws. After due consideration, the Bylaws of EUASA are approved and consequently adopted by unanimous vote of the Founding and Active Members of EUASA, as per the text that is attached to these minutes, and that is signed by all representatives of the Founding and Active Members.
Then the Founding and Active Members proceed to the elections of the Organs of EUASA; upon unanimous vote, the following persons are hereby elected, for a mandate of two years (with possible re-election for one further year):
- Chair of the Association: Pia Schneider
- Deputy Chair of the Association: Stephen Robinson
- Secretary-Treasurer of the Association: Kurt Gamerschlag
- Member of the Board: Alexis Phylactopoulos
- Member of the Board: Laurent Ringer
The above elected persons constitute the Board of Association.
- Comptroller: Robert Spencer
- Comptroller: Wedigo de Vivanco
All above appointed persons thank the Assembly and state to accept their appointment.
The Assembly then considers the matter of annual membership dues and, after detailed discussion, resolves to determine them as follows, delegating the Board to implement this decision in due course:
Initial founding dues, to be also deemed as the 2016 annual dues: euro 400.00.
The Assembly is then formally closed at 12:30pm.
